The Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture (“the Encyclopedia”) and its copyright holder, the
Central Arkansas Library System (CALS), make the Encyclopedia of Arkansas website
www.encyclopediaofarkansas.net (the “Site”), including all information, documents, files, text,
graphics, audio, and video (collectively, the “Materials”), available for your use subject to these terms
and conditions set forth in this document and any changes to this document that the Encyclopedia may
publish from time to time (collectively, the “Agreement”).
By accessing or using the Site in any way, or merely browsing the Site, you agree to and are bound by
the Agreement. Your use of the Site will be subject to the most current version of the Agreement,
rules, and guidelines posted on the Site at the time of such use. If you breach any part of the
Agreement, your authorization to use this Site automatically terminates, and any Materials downloaded
or printed from the Site in violation of the Agreement must be immediately destroyed.
CALS reserves the right to collect, to use, and to distribute demographic data about you and your use
of the Site in forms that do not identify you individually or reveal your identity.
All portions of this Site and its Materials, including entries, site design, logo, title, graphics, software,
text and functionality of the search, and browse and linking methods, are copyright and trademark
protected under U.S. and International law and may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, or
otherwise used for any commercial purpose. Any unauthorized use of the Materials on this Site may
violate such laws and this Agreement. Except as expressly provided herein, the Encyclopedia and its
suppliers do not grant any express or implied rights to use the Materials and the Site. You agree not to
copy, download, transmit, modify, rent, lease, loan, sell, distribute, license, sublicense, reverse
engineer, or create derivative works based on the Site or its Materials or their selection and
arrangement, except as expressly authorized herein. In addition, you agree not to use any robots or
similar data extraction methods in connection with the Site.
All photographs, text, code, and other media appearing on the Site are the exclusive property of the
copyright holders and are protected under United States and International Copyright Laws.
Photographs, illustrations, video, audio files, text, code, and other media may not be reproduced,
copied, stored, or manipulated in any form without the written permission of the respective copyright
holders. This includes use of any image as part of another photographic concept or illustration. No
image or any part of this Site by its appearance here should be construed as within the public domain.
The trademarks, logos, and service marks ("Marks") displayed on this Site are the property of CALS or
other third parties. You are not permitted to use the Marks without the prior written consent of CALS
or such third party that may own the Marks.
Neither the Encyclopedia nor CALS grants permission to utilize frames or any other technology
hardware or software to capture any portion of this Site.
A limited license is granted to the users of the Site for the purpose of linking to the main page of the
Site with the restriction that the link is placed on the user’s page in such a way that it does not damage
the reputation or accessibility of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Site, its parent organization, or the
persons involved in constructing the Site. All links to the pages contained within the Encyclopedia of
Arkansas Site or those beyond the main page of the Site must be pre-approved by the Encyclopedia.
In every case, the Encyclopedia makes an attempt to identify the legal copyright holder of the text,

inability to use, any Material or the Site itself. These limitations apply regardless of whether the party

CALS may terminate this Agreement and your use of the Site at any time. CALS shall have the right
immediately to terminate your use of the Site in the event of any conduct by you which CALS, in its
sole discretion, considers to be unacceptable, or in the event of any breach by you of this Agreement.
