As a descendent of Joseph Carter Corbin, I'd like to point out that the information noting his firing for mismanagement of funds excludes a very important fact. It was found that Corbin did not mismanage funds but came into opposition with very powerful political leaders of the day who sought to destroy his extraordinarily honorable reputation/name. These men conspired against him to concoct this plot alleging mismanagement of funds. It was proven that these allegations were unfounded. His name was cleared during the period and there is no reason why history should not accurately reflect this. This was an upstanding citizen who does not deserve that history should cast this unfounded stain upon such a brilliant and unselfish leader and civil servant.
