Margaret Kolb, one of the members of the Women's Emergency Committee to Open Our Schools in 1958, died January 5, 2009, at the age of 89. Kolb ran much of the operations of the WEC out of her Hillcrest home, including the phone tree that kept members informed of WEC actions. She was kept under surveillance by pro-Faubus forces.
